I Love Love Love Kenny Vance—and The Planotones!!!!

Ever since I saw Vance & The Planotones perform on a VHS tape of a Do-Wop Show that a friend played for me some 15 or 20 years ago, I was in love. I’ve played the song “Looking for an Echo” about 500 times–I just love it-the Story it tells, the Voice, the Harmony, Everything–it IS Do-Wop. I’ve seen Kenny’s Movies & listened to many of his songs, all of which I love. What He can do with that Amazing Voice gives me goosebumps, he is such a Unique Gift to the Music World! But, watching Vance and the Planotones perform is the Ultimate pleasure–when that Amazing voice comes to life and the perfect Harmony begins, it’s Magic. AND, They are without doubt the absolute COOLEST group ever, with their Cool & Calm Demeanor, the Black Suits, Hats, Dark Glasses, and That Walk–OH, That Walk…it leaves us begging for more! YOU GUYS ARE & HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THE GREATEST DO-WOP GROUP EVER!

  • Gail Barrett says:

  • bill niland says:

Kenny: I was blessed to be there to welcome you back at Doo Wop finale’. You brought the house down!! Earlier I spent time with Willie Winfield, where we discussed his Shrine of St Cecelia. It occurs to me your tragedies echo some of that song..including “return again (echo)”. I too lost a house we owned for 47 years through uninsured fire, my wife’s 31 year antique business destroyed by uninsured flood, I (former tenor sax played and radio personality) had 14operations for jaw cancer, and our grandson was killed by drunk driver…so I have a better appreciation than many for what you have overcome.Congratulations!!It was touching to see the love between you and Ladd..clearly you have loving family support. Your appearance also personified Looking for an Echo…what you sent out in note and love is now returning to you…continued blessings of every kind

  • Kenny –

Welcome back!! Your appearances have been sorely missed – but your music carried us all through until this wonderful news that you are returning to the stage. Hopefully you’ll be back at the American Music Theater in Lancaster in the near future. • Ron Nagle says:

    Wonderful memories tinged with sadness.
When I tell people that I sang with a do wop group the reaction is usually a smirking smile.
O.K. so I date myself. I feel kind’ a sad for them. They will never feel the intense total immersion in the sound. And they cant know how it feels when it is part of you that becomes the source.
Unfortunately the drug age opened a door that stripped away honest human emotions. Big amplified sound loud monotone vocals and computer generated bass. All honesty resides in you ! Live long and prosper. RN
